Parents and Gear Up

The Santa Cruz County C-CREO Gear Up Program believes that engaging our families in early college and career planning will increase student success.  Parental involvement is a critical component of the Gear Up program.

In order to strengthen the support system for our Gear Up cohort of students, we will work directly with families.  The Santa Cruz County C-CREO Gear Up Program will provide support for parents, guardians, and dedicated adults who care for the Gear Up student.  This may include grandparents, aunts, uncles or older siblings since family units can be very diverse.

Santa Cruz County C-CREO Gear Up sees family engagement as:

• Involving families through diverse learning opportunities and workshops
• Creating conversations and action plans around post-secondary planning
• Establishing connections and relationships with other families and the Gear Up Team

As students move up in the program, C-CREO Gear Up support will continue based on individual needs in accordance with the college and career path that the student has chosen to pursue.

We will hold quarterly parent workshops beginning in the fall of 2019.  Visit our website periodically for upcoming events.
