EDUCATORS
Educators and Gear Up
The Santa Cruz County Gear Up Program goal is to increase the number of students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary programs. We support middle and high schools in their efforts to set high academic expectations and promote early awareness of college and career planning. For the 2019-2020 school year, the Gear Up curriculum will include Growth Mindset activities from the Possible Futures curriculum in order to educate students on brain development and the importance of fostering a positive growth mindset. In the second semester, students will actively engage in career exploration activities using AZCIS Jr.
Educators can play a key role in the process by incorporating strategies that support college and career planning in their classrooms. Within lessons and across subject areas, teachers can easily reinforce and instill in students the mindset of planning for the future. Gear Up is committed to providing the needed resources, materials and training for our county teachers.
